Striving for media excellence

The Department of Media Studies recently hosted a two-week Train the Trainer for Media & Journalism Lecturers workshop facilitated by Deutsche Welle Academy and financed by the German Ministry of Development Cooperation and GIZ. The training was initiated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) as part of the capacity building for the Potential Centres of Excellence in Journalism Training in Africa.

Four staff members from the Department of Media Studies at Walter Sisulu University participated alongside journalism educators from the Department of Journalism at Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria; School of Journalism and Media Studies at Rhodes University, Grahamstown; School of Communication, Legal and Secretarial Studies, Namibia Polytechnic, Namibia; Mozambican School of Journalism, Mozambique Faculty of Communication and Information Science, Mozambique and the National University of Science and Technology, Zimbabwe.
