| Prof
Balintulo assumed his role as the first Vice Chancellor of WSU on
01 January 2007. He has been in office in Mthatha since 03 January
2007, spending much of his time meeting with Executive Management
and other role players in order to orientate himself with the workings
of the University.
Prof Balintulo
has an illustrious career in higher education and in the management
of higher education institutions. Until early 2006 he was the Interim
Vice Chancellor of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT).
As Vice Chancellor of Cape Technikon he guided that institution
into the CPUT merger. Prof Balintulo was also the Acting Vice Chancellor
of the former University of Durban Westville in the mid-1990s.
Prof Balintulo
hails from the Eastern Cape. He has read for degrees at the University
of Fort Hare, University of Durham (England) and the University
of Warwick (Coventry). His area of academic specialization is the
field of Sociology.

will be visiting all campuses of WSU in due course. |
