STUDENT
AFFAIRS

The Department
of Student Affairs has as its primary thrust the promotion of the overall
development of students. This involves to a large extent the enrichment
of students academically and socially, and the practitioners of student
development concentrate on the various areas of cultural activities, talent
development, leadership training, life skill education, and conflict resolution,
amongst others.
At the University
the Department of Student Affairs provides professional and structured
co-curricular programmes and services which are designed and managed with
specific student learning and development outcomes in mind.
By using the
services of dedicated and competent staff students and identified sections
of the community are provided with relevant programmes within the areas
of counseling, health, residences, sport, personal development and governance.
The Department
consistently and continuously strives to create and sustain a vibrant
and well-resourced learning environment in which relevant relationships
are established. Talents such as cultural understanding, empathy, citizenship,
voluntarism and social responsibility are examples of what the department
develops amongst the students.
All the activities
of the department are carried out to support and enhance the development
of professional programmes which produce holistic and versatile graduates
who are fully capable of playing a meaningful role in the global context.
