The purpose of this qualification is to provide BSc in Physics graduates with specialized knowledge, research skills and applied competence that will assist them to further develop themselves to be recognized natural scientists in South Africa and beyond. The Honours degree is also considered as the minimum requirement for further postgraduate studies. The programme exposes the graduates to real-life physical, socio-economic and built environment challenges which necessitate them to develop appropriate skills to address them at local, regional and national levels. Eventually, South Africa will have sufficient personnel or experts in Physics that will take up managerial or leadership positions at all levels of society. Graduates of this qualification will learn both the principles and practical applications of Physics such as optimal use of electrical and magnetic materials as well as making decisions on choice of materials for practical mechanical applications. |
