WSU online applications are only accessible through the official platform: https://applications.wsu.ac.za
To successfully apply, ensure you have the following:
- An accessible and active email address (for OTP verification and communication).
- A valid postal address.
- South African ID document or Passport (for international applicants).
- Matric certificate or Statement of symbols.
- Grade 12 school report (if currently in Grade 12).
The system automatically assesses your matric results and/or subject combinations. Qualifications that you do not qualify for will be greyed out.
After submitting:
- You will receive a student number.
- A confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address.
- Apply for a maximum of three (3) qualification choices.
- Add more choices later, but you cannot change existing choices after submission.

Each application is valid for a single academic year. You must reapply for future academic years.
No. There is no application fee to apply at Walter Sisulu University.
Click on “Forgot Password” on the login page. A new password will be sent to your email.
Yes. You must complete all steps to ensure your application is submitted successfully.
You will receive:
- A student number.
- An email confirmation verifying receipt of your application.
You can check your status on the following link

- WSU will send you’re a formal letter indicating outcomes of your application.
